Dominica is known as "The Nature Island of the Caribbean" due to its spectacular, lush and varied flora and fauna, which are protected by an extensive natural park system. It is also the most mountainous of the Lesser Antilles Islands. It has a population of approximately 72000 which consist mostly of Afro-Caribbean origin and there are about 3000 Carib Indians. The languages of English and French Patois are widely spoken.

Its capital is Roseau and it has a size of about 260 sq. miles (754 sq. km). It is located in the Lesser Antilles between Martinique and Guadeloupe. This island’s coordinates are 15ºN, 61ºW.
